Schilt sustains broken collarbone in Kazakhstan

After a string of recent race results, including Best U23 Rider at the Tour de Tochigi in Japan, Ryan Schilt has sustained a broken collarbone following a crash in a track event in Kazakhstan.

The 21 year old was overseas representing the Dutch National Track team in racing in the CL1 Silk Way Series in the capital of Astana. During the scratch race event of the omnium series a crash occurred and Schilt fell heavily and was transported to hospital for scans.

Schilt will travel to Holland to undergo surgery to correct the break and should be able to commence rehabilitation in the coming weeks. With the operation scheduled, Schilt stated that “hopefully it goes well and the pain subsides as the days go on and I will be able to refocus on the second half of the year on the road with Oliver’s.”.
